Traffic notice for Cyclist taking on the Wild Mayo Ultra events.

On Friday May 13th the Wild Mayo Ultra endurance cycle events starts at 4pm outside the Mariner hotel, mill st, Westport..

These cyclists will cover a 650k route around the coast and borders of county Mayo, if you spot a cyclist in high viz and lit up like a Christmas tree then it’s sure to be an Ultra participant.

The 650k Wild Mayo Ultra route: Westport via, Louisborgh, Killeen, Drummin, Ashleigh Falls, Leenane, Finny, Tourmakeady, Killawalia, Ballinrobe, Clonbur rd to Cong, Cross, Shrule, Irishtown, Ballyhanuis, Kilmovee, Carracastle, Bonniconlon, Ballina, Killala, Lacken, Ballycastle.  Ballycastle, Bellanaboy, Pulathomas, Barnatra, Belmullet, Blacksod, Barnatra for 2nd time Ballycroy, Mullraney, Corraun, Achill sound, Atlantic drive to Minaun Heights, Keel, Keem Bay with the final section straight back to Westport. Approximate finishing times from 6- 11pm on Saturday outside the Mariner hotel.

On Saturday morning May 14th, the 300k and 200k participants starts from 7am and 9am respectively again at the Mariner Hotel Mill St, Westport, each cyclist departing at 3minute intervals.

Their route will be via Newport, Furnace, (Wild Nephin drive to Keenan, Crossmolina, Ballycastle, Bellanaboy, Pulathomas, Barnatra, Bangor, Ballycroy, Mullraney, Corraun, Achill sound, Atlantic drive to Minaun Heights, Keel, Keem Bay with the final section straight back to Westport. Approximate finishing times from 6- 11pm on Saturday outside the Mariner hotel.

Most of these cyclists will be followed by a support crew in a car with flashing orange beacon and warning signage

Timetables for the 200k, 300k and 650k events with approximate times that cyclists will be passing.

 

Please slow down when passing and allow 1.5m when over taking.  Please give these warriors a friendly beep of the horn as most are from outside the county.
