Mc Hale Run Mayo results

Results of the McHale Run Mayo events at Ballinrobe Races course.

The inaugural Run Mayo event was organised to celebrate Mayo month by attracting runners, walkers, and joggers to the safe confines of the Ballinrobe racecourse. The ambitious organisers, Raceface, hosted three multi-distance events at the same time on the ambulance track of the racecourse.

Core Timing the event partners have the technology to host these events and they even had software to allow outsiders to watch from afar with their live tracking system. As with most multi-participation events, this year’s numbers were low with a few local clashes. The park runs and the Moy half marathon didn’t help, but that didn’t stop the show from going ahead.

Mc Hale farm machinery the main sponsor had the venue looking like an international venue with teardrop flags, music blaring, a finish gantry, and trackside drink and feed stations so a huge thanks to them for helping bring an event like this to Ballinrobe.

We at Raceface feel that running multi-distance events at one time is unique and has excellent possibilities, especially for those looking to run a PB time.

Though numbers were small the effort put in by all the competitors cannot be underestimated. We had all ages catered for from under 8’s to runners like 81 years young Liam Lowry from Galway who took part in the 5k and 77-year-old Philip Cribbin from Claregalway who took part in the half marathon. For these guys’ age is but a number and their effort was an inspiration for all.

A group from Ukraine arrived from Castlebar to take part, they loved the concept, and really enjoyed themselves, and they now have a souvenir of a Mc Hale Run Mayo Mug as a reminder of competing in Ballinrobe
