Training Tips for Ultra Cycling Success

🚴 Build Up Your Endurance Gradually
Start with shorter rides and progressively increase mileage. Aim to complete at least 70-80% of your target distance in training.

🌙 Train for Night Riding (500K Participants)
If you’re taking on the 500K, practice riding in low-light conditions with proper lighting and reflective gear.

🏔️ Hill Training is Essential
Mayo’s terrain is stunning but challenging. Incorporate climbs into your training to prepare for the rolling and sometimes steep sections of the course.

🍏 Dial In Your Nutrition Plan
Test different food and hydration strategies during training. Whether it’s energy gels, real food, or electrolyte drinks, find what works best for your body.

🔧 Fine-Tune Your Bike & Gear
Ensure your bike is well-maintained, comfortable, and equipped with reliable lights, extra layers for night riding, and emergency repair kits.

🛌 Plan Your Rest & Recovery
Ultra-cycling demands a lot from your body. Prioritize recovery rides, stretching, and good sleep to avoid burnout.
