Run Forest Run – June 6th – Ballinrobe
Run Forest Run Summer Edition (Mayo’s answer to Hell and Back) kicks off on the 6th of June at 4pm in Ballinrobe, the 10k obstacle course is set out on 250 acres of grass and woodlands.
With an evening start, we are expecting large numbers. There is a big focus on teams and groups combining efforts to get around the 10K route with over 40 obstacles that are designed to challenge the participant/team mentally and physically as the underfoot condition and terrain will vary every few meters. Individuals can participate but they will need the help of others at various challenges and obstacles to move forward and complete the course.
Who can take part and what’s involved?
This challenge is suitable for all abilities (as long as you don’t have any health problems). There is no time limit to complete the course, the aim is to try and negotiate every obstacle without taking the easy way around. Saying all that, if there is an obstacle that is beyond your ability marshals will allow you on to the next without any trouble.
The event is suitable to 15 year olds upwards, swimming is not a requirement but been healthy and knowing your capabilities is paramount if you want to complete the course.
Its recommended to wear tight fitting clothing that you will not use again, participants will get wet, mucky, splashed, water bombed while making their way through the course.
The course has many different types of terrain (bog, grassland, dikes, drains, swamps, rivers and streams) and to complete it you will have to negotiate various man-made and natural obstacles including: bale jumps, net scrambles, log carries, canal wades, high bank climbs, bog slides, bog wall climbs, ditches, streams, tires and tunnels.
It is designed to test your mental and physical strength and to leave you with a great big grin of satisfaction on your face when you complete the challenge. On the day of the event we will have a motivational warm up and an equally spine chilling finish.
You can enter as an individual or as a team with a minimum of 3 members. The event is suitable to companies for team building purposes.
